Terms of Service

Tanko Shelf is a catalog and personal collection tracker for physical English-language manga. It helps you record which volumes of which exact edition you own, want or have ordered, and points you to retailers who sell them. Tanko Shelf does not sell books, does not host manga content, and does not provide reading material.

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details, for keeping your credentials secure, and for activity under your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Privacy & data.

Catalog records are compiled from publisher, distributor, bibliographic and archival sources. We work hard to distinguish "we have verified this" from "we have not verified this yet", and editions still under verification are labelled as such rather than presented as complete. Even so, catalog data is provided on an as-is basis: volume counts, release dates, ISBNs, formats and availability can be wrong or out of date. Do not rely on Tanko Shelf as the sole basis for a purchase decision.

Prices, stock and availability shown for third-party retailers are indicative and may be stale. The retailer's own listing at the time of purchase governs. We are not a party to your transaction with any retailer and have no responsibility for orders, payments, shipping, returns or refunds.

Affiliate disclosure. Some retailer links on Tanko Shelf are affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Commission never influences whether a volume appears in the catalog or which edition we consider correct.

You agree not to:

• attempt to access another person's account, shelf, wishlist or data;
• probe, scan or test the security of the service, or bypass access controls;
• scrape, bulk-download or resell the catalog, or use automated clients at a rate that degrades the service for others;
• submit deliberately false catalog reports or abuse reporting features;
• use the service for anything unlawful or infringing.

We may rate-limit, suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.

Notes, reports and requests you submit remain yours. By submitting a catalog report or correction you grant us a non-exclusive licence to use it to maintain and improve the catalog, including after your account is deleted, in anonymized form.

Cover images, series titles, publisher names and related marks belong to their respective rights holders and are used for identification and reference. The Tanko Shelf name, logo, interface and compiled catalog structure belong to Tanko Shelf. If you are a rights holder with a concern about material shown here, contact tanko.shelf@proton.me and we will respond promptly.

The service is provided without any uptime guarantee. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we may perform maintenance without notice.

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, for legal reasons, or if we discontinue the service. On termination, the deletion behaviour described in the Privacy Policy applies.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tanko Shelf is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits or purchases made in reliance on catalog information. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the version number and effective date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state and federal courts located in Virginia, United States, except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
